The BikesToYou/World of Bikes racing team of '09 is now officially part of the blogger world.
A young competitive racing squad proudly Co-Sponsored by Bikes To You and World of Bikes. The team consists of nine Category 1/2 riders from Iowa whom have a passion for the sport of cycling.
The singular purpose of the Bikes To You Cycling Team is quite simply to make bike racing more accessible for younger generations and to facilitate their improvement in the sport through a positive, team focused racing environment. In a short period of time we have garnered a reputation for being a positive group of bike racers, who would rather race aggressive and lose than not have an impact on the race. In the future we hope to expand our team to include younger riders, however, at this time riders under the age of 20 don’t exist in Iowa, and we feel that by establishing a core group of riders with a positive reputation for developing riders, that we will be able to excite younger kids to give our sport a try.
In one year we have put together a squad of four master’s level racers with decades of both national and international racing experience, who have a passion for the development of an age group of bike racers that is notably absent in the Midwest. In the 2008 season, we fostered the development of 5 racers between the ages of 21-24, and facilitated a fun, positive demeanor within this squad. We are not focused solely on winning, as some of our proudest moments this past season came during events where we played a pivotal role in the race through the execution of positive racing tactics, without winning the event. We are proud of the fact that all 5 of our younger guys not only won a race in 2008 but have received upgrades within the USA Cycling categorization system to the elite Category 2 level.
